Our Greenwich Pumping Station site lies within the grounds of a fully operational Grade II Listed pumping station. It is situated alongside Deptford Creek and underneath the DLR and the Greenwich main line viaduct. The site is being used to drive the Greenwich connection tunnel to Chambers Wharf using our TBM ‘Annie’, it will help tackle the problem of sewage overflow into the Deptford Creek and River Ravensbourne. The tunnel splits from the main Tideway tunnel and goes through our other sites at Earl Pumping Station and Deptford Church Street.

Reconnecting London with the River Thames

London relies on a 150-year-old sewer system built for a population less than half its current size. As a result, millions of tonnes of raw sewage spills, untreated, into the River Thames each year.

That’s where we come in.

We’re building a 25km Super Sewer under the Thames to intercept those nasty spills and clean up our river for the good of the city, its wildlife and you.
